Ganton Golf Club, Yorkshire

The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world. The Swilcan Bridge and Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe, yet the greatest feature of the Old Course is that despite its grand status it remains a public golf course, open to all. It is a classic seaside links, although the sea is seldom in view other than at the first and last holes. The fairways are wide and the double greens immense but the bunkering is among the severest to be found on a golf course anywhere the game is played.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive into London and drive your rental vehicle to The Wentworth Hotel, Aldeburgh (3hrs from Heathrow Airport).

Day 2

Play Aldeburgh Golf Club and spend the afternoon exploring the local historic market towns or the walk the pebble beach outside the hotel.

Day 3

Drive to Woodhall Spa and check-in at the Dower House Hotel.  Stop off and explore historic towns such as Norwich or Kings Lynn or the royal town of Sandringham (3hrs with no stops).

Day 4

Play the Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club, the 58th best course in the world.

Day 5

Drive to Nottingham and check-in at the Harts Hotel in the centre of Nottignham.  Stroll around the city and stop by Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem pub, England's oldest surviving inn opened in 1189 AD. The inn was christened when King Richard the Lionheart and his men congregated here before embarking on the Crusades in Jerusalem.

Day 6

Play Notts Golf Club at Hollinwell (40mins drive). After your round continue on to the steel city of Sheffield, before checking into the Leopold Hotel (1hr drive).

Day 7

Play Lindrick Golf Club, host of the 1957 Ryder Cup (35mins drive). After enjoying this historic Ryder Cup venue you will then drive to Leeds and check-in at the Malmasion Leeds Hotel (45mins drive).

Day 8

Play Moortown Golf Club, 1929 Ryder Cup venue (25mins drive). After your round return to your Hotel in Leeds.

Day 9

Play Alwoodley Golf Club (25mins drive). After your round drive on towards the historic city of York (40mins drive).  Check-in to your hotel, Malmaison York, and enjoy rooftop terrace drinks overlooking the world renowned York Minster. 

Day 10

Play Ganton Golf Club, 1949 Ryder Cup venue (50mins drive). After your round return to your Hotel in York for your final night.

Day 11

Check-out of your hotel and head to the airport or onwards to explore more of the UK.  Maybe you'll head to the North West and enjoy our North West Open Challenge, back south to play England's Capital Golf Tour or head further north and enjoy the links courses of the home of golf, Scotland.
